Homemade Lotion Recipe

October 13, 2014

Luxurious Homemade Lotion Recipe

  • 1/2 cup almond or olive oil (can infuse with herbs first if desired)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup beeswax
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter
  • Optional: Essential Oils, Vanilla Extract or other natural extracts to suit your preference

Organic Homemade Lotion Basic Ingredients:

  • Calendula and Chamomile for baby
  • Rosewater and Almond Oil
  • Peppermint, Wintergreen, and Ginger for sore muscles
  • Coconut and Calendula for face
  • Mint and green tea
  • Lavender and vanilla

How to Make Lotion:

  1. Combine ingredients in a pint sized or larger glass jar. I have a mason jar that I keep just for making lotions and lotion bars, or you can even reuse a glass jar from pickles, olives or other foods.
  2. Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and place over medium heat.
  3. Put a lid on the jar loosely and place in the pan with the water.
  4. As the water heats, the ingredients in the jar will start to melt. Shake or stir occasionally to incorporate. When all ingredients are completely melted, pour into whatever jar or tin you will use for storage. Small mason jars (8 ounce) are great for this. It will not pump well in a lotion pump!
  5. Use as you would regular lotion. This has a longer shelf life than some homemade lotion recipes since all ingredients are already shelf stable and not water is added. Use within 6 months for best moisturizing benefits.

Note: A little goes a long way! This lotion is incredibly nourishing and is also great for diaper rash on baby, for eczema and for preventing stretch marks!

HomeMade Toothpaste

October 3, 2014

Why make your own toothpaste?

It saves money, gives you a feeling of accomplishment, and allows you to leave out all the harmful ingredients commercial toothpaste is made of. Oh yeah, and it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.

Simple Ingredients

    2/3 cup baking soda
1 tsp fine sea salt (optional – direct application of the minerals in sea salt is great for teeth, but can be left out if the taste is too salty)
1 – 2 tsp peppermint extract or 10-15 drops peppermint essential oil (or add your favorite flavor – spearmint, orange, etc.)
filtered water (add to desired consistency)

3 Main Tips to Make your Magento Site Mobile Friendly

August 12, 2014

There are a number of ways in which sites hosted on the Magneto framework can be made mobile-friendly, and Magento developers in Vancouver (https://willbecoded.ca/magento-e-commerce-developers/) will be able to help you find a way to do it which will benefit your site.

  • CouchCommerce – this is a nice labour and money-saving device, which is handy if a company does not have much money for expert Magento developers, or they are doing it themselves. CouchCommerce is plugin which creates a mobile-friendly version of the site without any effort on your part
  • Mobify – this is not a plugin, but an entirely separate platform dedicated to mobile sites. If it is used (and it integrates completely with Magento), then it takes all the data and code which has been entered, and creates a mobile site.
  • Magento Live Chat – customers like to talk to someone when they have problems. This bot will allow communication.

    The Perfect Bible Study Guide

    June 29, 2014

For quite some time I have been looking for the right bible study for the kids. As part of our homeschool curriculum it is imperative for me to be sure they are studying the bible along with the rest of the classes.

Today after searching a little bit more I finally found what I was looking for:

Their bible study is prefect for kids and include many activities. The best part is that it is free 🙂

    HomeMade Toothpaste : Recipe #1

    June 18, 2014

    Natural Homemade Toothpaste Ingredients

    About 1/2 cup coconut oil
    2-3 Tablespoons of baking soda
2 small packets of stevia powder
15-20 drops of peppermint or cinnamon essential oil
10 drops Grapefruit Seed Extract (optional)
    10 drops myrhh extract (optional)

How to Make Natural Homemade Toothpaste

Melt or slightly soften coconut oil.
Mix in other ingredients and stir well. If using semi-hard coconut oil, use a fork, if not, use a spoon. If you are using completely melted coconut oil, you will need to stir several times while the mixture cools to keep the baking soda incorporated.
Put mixture into small glass jar (I make different ones for each family member)
    Let cool completely.
To use: dip toothbrush in and scrape small amount onto bristles. Could also use a small spoon to put on toothbrush.
